Vintage Computer Festival - Exhibit

The Vintage Computer Festival wants you to display the pride of your collection in this year's exhibit.  Every collector has a machine or two in their collection that is in exceptional condition, or is extremely rare, or has a good story behind it, etc.  Or perhaps you're a programmer and have written a great simulator of some grand old machine.  Or maybe you've built a wonderful re-creation of a significant machine of the past.  Now's your chance to show it off to other hobbyists!

Not only is this your chance to show off, but you could also win awards in twelve different categories, plus the coveted Best of Show award!  The Best of Show winner takes home $50 in cash!

The categories under which exhibits can win awards are as follows:

Best Presentation

  • Exhibit Research - Thoroughness and accuracy of the research upon which the display is based.
  • Exhibit Completeness - Completeness of the exhibit in terms of the scope of both the hardware and software that the exhibit represents.
  • Exhibit Display - Organization and design of the display.
  • Creative Integration with Contemporary Technology - Use of contemporary technology to enhance the effectiveness of the exhibit, for example, using CD-ROM in place of cassette tape to store programs.

Best Preservation

  • Most Original Condition - Best computer in an original, unrestored condition.
  • Best Restoration - Best restoration of an original computer.
  • Best Re-creation - Best re-creation of a vintage computer.
  • Best Simulation - Best software simulation of a vintage computer or operating system.
  • Obscurity - Most obscure computer.

Best Technology

  • Analog Computer - Best analog computer exhibit.
  • Non-electronic - Best non-electronic computer exhibit.

People's Choice

  • The People's Choice award is given to the exhibit that garner's the most votes from the VCF attendees.
