The Speakers
Christine Finn Christine is bringing the discipline of an archaeologist to the study of computer history. She'll be discussing her upcoming book "Artifacts: An Archaeologist's Year in Silicon Valley".
John Gustafson John headed up a project to build a replica of the Atanasoff-Berry Computer (ABC). You can read about this fantastic project here. John will be discussing the project in detail.
James Burgett James is the head of one of the largest (and growing) computer recycling centers in the world, the Alameda County Computer Resource Center in Oakland, California. The ACCRC accepts discarded or outmoded computers from businesses and individuals and either refurbishes the more modern machines and donates them back to needing schools, charities and individuals, or strips down the outmoded machines to be recycled to help our environment (don't worry, historic or collectible machines are added to the ACCRC's Computer Museum!)
John Toole John Toole is the Executive Director of The Computer Museum History Center and will be talking about the tremendous progress the Museum has made in the past year.
David Weil David, Executive Director of the Computer Museum of America, will be discussing the efforts that his San Diego based organization has made to preserve computer history.
Jim Willing Jim will once again amuse the crowd with his shenanigans. Nobody knows what Jim will talk about or show off this year (he's not even telling me!) so this should be quite the extravaganza. You can visit Jim on the web at Jim's Computer Garage.
Jeri Ellsworth Jeri started off designing a 24-bit video card for the Commodore 64, but like any good engineer without supervision she began to add more and more functionality to it until what she ended up with is the CommodoreOne, a completely new but totally compatible Commodore 64 design with modern interfaces. Jeri will be talking about the design and development of the CommodoreOne.
(More speakers to be announced soon!)
