Joey Tuttle
Joey Tuttle worked for IBM from 1964 until 1977, the later part of his career at IBM being in the APL development and research group.
After leaving IBM he joined I.P. Sharp Associates, a Canadian company that was centered around the development and use of APL on mainframe computers. There he worked with Roger Moore and Dick Lathwell who, along with Larry Breed, received the Grace Hopper Award for their work on APL360. Joey also worked alongside Ken Iverson, the "father" of APL, who retired from IBM to join I.P. Sharp Associates.
In 1987, I.P. Sharp Associates was acquired by Reuters and the software development groups were spun off to other companies. One of the results was the evolution of Ken Iverson's APL ideas into the language J which continues to be developed and distributed by Jsoftware Inc. Joey has continued involvement with J development and usage in various data analysis roles.
