Artifacts: An Archaeologist's Year in Silicon Valley is now available in paperback. Click here to order.
Christine Finn combined her experience as a print and broadcast journalist with her archaeology training and spent a year in the Silicon Valley observing the 2000 boom times which subsequently turned to bust. She's recorded her experiences in Artifacts: An Archaeologist's Year in Silicon Valley.
The book is written from the perspective of an archaeologist surveying the Silicon Valley circa 2000, and observes the economy, the social customs, and the people of this fast moving and idea-rich place. It includes interviews with computer collectors and discusses the change of the value of technology--both historically and monetarily--over time.
The book will hit the shelves on November 1, 2001. You can put in an order on Amazon now.
A website for the book has been established at http://www.siconic.com/artifacts/. The website includes links to people, places and things referenced in the book, as well as an update journal which tracks changes that have taken place with subjects in the book since it went to press.
