Ed Kramer, currently a Sequence Supervisor at Industrial Light & Magic, has been doing computer graphics professionally for almost 20 years. His career spans the transition from analog video devices such as the Scanimate and Computer Image System IV, through the most high-tech digital systems employed by ILM. He was among the first to use a variety of digital effects devices, including the ADO, Via Video and Quantel paint systems, Bosch FGS-4000, Abekas, Wavefront, and digital video tape.
Ed worked for video facilities in Hollywood, New York and Atlanta, and for NASA in Houston. He has written on video animation and chaired courses at SIGGRAPH. His film work includes the LUXOR project for Douglas Trumbull, and special effects sequences for Clear and Present Danger, Stargate, Jumanji, Twister, 101 Dalmatians, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Deep Impact, The Mummy, and Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
Ed has a B.S. in Psychology from Duke University (1977) and an M.A. in Film Production from The University of Texas (1980). He lives with his wife and new baby in Marin County, California.
