CDC 6600 - The First Supercomputer
In 1964 the first CDC 6600 was delivered. The machine was developed by a team of 34 under the leadership of Seymour Cray. From that day until the early 90s the machines patterned after the design of Seymour Cray held a significant leadership above all other machines in the market - the most powerful computers available at any time, which is the definition of Supercomputer. This talk outlines the architectural and technological advances introduced with the CDC 6600

VCFe Excursion Tour

You will experience a real working CDC Dinosaur, including a hands on demonstration.

A CDC Cyber 960, the last of a successfull family of Supercomputers which started in 1964 with the CDC 6600. Visitors will be able to operate a Fortran Programm. Beside this highlicht other fine computers will be on Display, including a CRAY Y-MP, the 'smalest' ever computer of Cray Research.

The demonstation itself will take about 60 minutes. The wohle Tour will be 1 hour 50. Departure is every hour at :30 in front of the VCFe exhibition hall.

Please Notice:

  • The Tour requires an additional transport fee of DM 2,-.
  • You may not travel on your own.
  • It is strongly recomended to visit the CDC Speach before you participate.
  • There's a maximum number of 10 Visitors per Tour.
  • There are no restrooms at the Tours destination.
